With a trendy, crackled appearance, OPI's Shatter is irresistible on its own or over your favorite lacquer shade. Alone, it gives you a two-texture finish. One coat over any completely dry nail lacquer provides a crackled finish that will add extra pop to your ordinary color.
How It Works:
- Stearalkonium Bentonite keeps polish smooth, allowing for easier application.
- Ethyl Acetate keeps colors mixed so they're always ready to apply.
- Mica contains light-reflecting particles, giving your nails shine and an even-toned look.
- Silica reflects light, giving your nails extra shine and radiant color.
Suggested Use: Apply polish to clean, dry nails. Use a cuticle stick to gently push cuticles back. Wipe excess polish off both sides of brush on the edges of the bottle. Working from just beyond the cuticle, apply just enough pressure on brush to fan it flat against your nail and cover more of the nail in one sweep. Apply color in smooth strokes toward nail tip, keeping brush strokes moving the same direction for a smoother finish. Apply one coat to each nail and allow to dry, then add a second coat. Or, apply one coat of your favorite OPI Shatter over any completely dry lacquer for a crackled appearance.

"I have the black shattered and love it! Its a fun twist to your old boring polish. I will add that the bottom coat does matter as the shatter doesn't look great over everything. Metallic blue is probably my fave bottom layer, mixed with the black shatter it takes on cool dark teal that changes when it hits different lighting."

"I've tried OPI's shatter in both black and navy. The black creates the desired shattered effect when applied correctly, its important to apply this product quickly and with only one layer. Although if by chance you make a mistake you can gently wipe off the shatter without removing the color underneath so that you can apply it again. I also tried the navy shatter and it was a disaster, I tried several times and it never shattered and just looked streaky. I ended up returning it, thank goodness for Bloom's incredible return policy and helpful Beauty Concierge. "

"I really enjoyed my shatter polish that I received. I was given the black OPI shatter polish as a gift and I must admit I fell in love. Some may argue that this is tacky, but I think if paired with the right outfit this can look awesome! It also really helps a manicure from chipping in my opinion. And also, when a manicure does start to chip, this hides it really well. I think this is definitely a trend worth trying, but I do think it will fade away at some point. But I sure have loved it!"

"This is sort of a mixed review since it really depends on the color you get. The black is fantastic and highly recommend it to anyone wanting a shattered effect on their nail. The other colors seem to really vary. The turquoise didn't shatter very well, and neither did the black. The red seemed to do OK but red shattered nails look isn't a favorite of mine. Aside from the black, the dark blue probably worked the best. ".JPG)

I have used it over sally hansen quick dry nail polish in silver and it lasts twice as long versus just wearing solid colors without shatter."

"If you tried OPI Black Shatter when it first came out & thought it was a clumpy pain in the uknowhat, you may want to give it another try since they've changed the formula & it's a bit thinner & clumps less around the neck of the bottle. I really love it - it looks so cool over any color! I find that shaking the bottle after every nail gives me the best application and DON"T skip the top coat. It chips off if you do."

"I only have the black, red and silver - but I love each of them. Black looks great over just about every color... but amazing over gold. Love silver over red or vise versa. "Black was the first Shatter color, and seems to be the most universal. It looks especially good over pinks- I've used it over light to deep pinks with good effect. Other brands have come out with their own versions, but I've found the OPI to be far superior to drugstore brands. It goes on more smoothly and seems to last longer without chipping. (At LEAST a week- and I use my hands constantly at work) It's also super forgiving, there is really no messing up with this stuff. Every time I use it, it gets comments, even from guys.

"I got the black because of course it works well with every color. Because I was so excited about getting it so quickly I tried it on a bare nail. It doesn't work that way. You have to put in over another polish with just one stroke. Just play with it to find what way you like it best because the strokes direction you use to apply is the direction the cracks show up as. Dries quickly. Looks best with a clear coat over it. Would LOVE for a pink one to come out."
